This feature was not supported by the any earlier versions of the Windows.

Bash is simply command utility and has been part of Linux for a very long time but now introduced in the Windows 10 anniversary update. It allows you to run the same command that you use to run on a Linux computer. There’s even more that Microsoft is planning for. So developers keep wanting!
